Chamberlain finishes third in Gator Championship; picks up prelim victory at Volusia Speedway Park
On Monday afternoon, Tristan Chamberlain rolled into the second week of DIRTcar UMP Modifed competition at Volusia Speedway Park (De Leon Springs, Fla.) and was among 96 other competitors.
Starting on the front-row of a preliminary feature on night one, Chamberlain took the top spot on lap 2 and ran away with the checkered flag over Brian Ruhlman.
Tristan struggled on Tuesday evening with a 15th-place finish in his feature, but rebounded on Wednesday with a podium outing in third. Thursday's events were rained out. He then wrapped up preliminary action with a sixth-place finish in Friday's preliminary feature.
Earning a spot in Saturday's finale through a last chance showdown, Tristan started 23rd in the 30-lap feature and prepared to make a run to the front. Making his way into the Top-5 by lap 12, Chamberlain passed 20 drivers to land on the podium in third. He trailed Jordan Koehler and Ricky Thornton Jr.
